Monteverde is simply a paradise for
nature lovers. This Cloud Forest Reserve is located in the province of Puntarenas, at an
altitude that ranges between 1900 and 6000 feet (between 600 to 1800 mts) above sea level,
and it was founded in 1962 by the CCT (Scientific Tropical Center). This tropical sanctuary consists of six
different areas of biodiversity, in which you can find: 100 species of mammals, 400
species of birds, 120 species of amphibians and reptiles, thousands of insects and 2500
species of plants.
Trails along the reserve are made
for tourist to enjoy the nature it holds, and the institute hires qualified guides for
this purpose. However, if you are one of those who loves adventure, the canopy tour or the
sky walk might be even more exciting and suitable for you.
